Vancouver is getting ready to host the 23rd annual Hoop-Law Charity Basketball Tournament.
Taking place on September 9 at the Richmond Olympic Oval, the event is being organized by members of the city’s legal community. And it’s happening for a great cause with all proceeds raised going to the Children’s Hearing and Speech Centre, Night Hoops, CLICK, and SUCCESS.
More than 250 lawyers from more than 25 firms, plus dozens of law students, will be participating in the one-day tournament where they’ll be playing in either the recreational or competitive division.
You can go along to the event to see the teams battle it out for the top spot on the court. Or you can get in on the action yourself by registering now with your own team or joining a team.
“Hoop-Law is a unique opportunity for lawyers from the Lower Mainland to give back by raising funds and awareness for charities that benefit the children that live in our community,” Hoop-Law President Jon Conlin said in a press release.
“Many times the funds raised have been the difference between worthwhile programs and services operating, or not, and we are proud to be able to have that kind of impact.”
This year marks the very first time the event will be held at the Richmond Olympic Oval. You’ll find family-friendly activities, entertainment, and beer gardens that you can hit up when you’re finished a game on the court.
“The tournament has grown year over year. Moving to the Oval this year, we have access to more courts,” said Conlin. “That means more games for players, and more space for on-site entertainment and activities.”
Hoop-Law has successfully raised more than a million dollars to help better the lives of children throughout the Lower Mainland since it established in 1995. “We raised $77,000 last year and we hope to raise even more in 2017,” said Conlin.
Now you can help contribute to this great cause by supporting the teams, donating online, or even testing your basketball skills by signing up with a team.
