Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver College Emerald Tournament features another stacked line-up of teams as one of the last tournaments of the season ahead of regional qualifying tournaments. Last night there were a number of exciting games, but the feature game of the night was the host #4 AAAA Vancouver College against Honorable Mention AAAA Handsworth.
At the half, Vancouver College had opened up a double digit lead in front of their home crowd Friday evening. But, to start the second half Handsworth came out attacking, quickly cutting into the lead and forcing Vancouver College into a timeout.
With Scott Watson and George Horn leading the charge for Handsworth, the gap closed to within one possession towards the end of the third quarter. In the fourth, Vancouver College would rely on a heavy dose of Toni Maric inside to maintain their lead. In the end, Vancouver College would outlast the Handsworth comeback attempt to a final score of 75-71.
The finals of the Vancouver College Emerald Tournament are set for 5:00pm Saturday evening and will feature the Charles Hays Rainmakers vs the winner of Terry Fox or Vancouver College.
