The T-Birds treated their crowd to an overtime thriller over Regina’s Cougars in Men’s Basketball action this weekend. After easily handling the Cougars on Friday (96-73), it looked like another easy win with Tbirds controlling the first half 44-32. But, Brian Ofori sparked his squad in the second half to shot over 45% from both inside and beyond the arc. Cougars looked like they might steal a game from the host squad, but Conor Morgan nabbed a rebound to feed a running Phil Jalalpoor for a fast break layup. Conor swatted a timely block and Phil nailed a clutch pull-up 3 off the rebound of Grant Audu. As one would expect, Conor dominated OT by making his presence felt in every play.
Just as in regulation, Jalalpoor tasked himself with securing the win,by hitting a lethal 4 point play and nailed 2 free throws.Tbirds close out 2017 on a 8 game win streak which places them on top of their conference. The team will return to action on January 12 where they will travel to Lethbridge to settle the dispute for the #1 spot of Canada West (10-2).
