UBC Basketball Record Breaking Weekend | Jan 9-11

Come out and support UBC Basketball in this historic weekend as both head coaches are on pace to break the Canada West Win's Records! Kevin Hanson (313 wins) in his 20th season is tied with Alberta’s Don Horwood and needs just 1 to set the new record at 314. Deb Huband (336 wins) in her 25th season needs 1 to tie former T-Bird Kathy Shields and 2 to set the new record!

Stars are aligning with the Birds being at home this week giving the possibility for these coaches to celebrate with friends and family. Sources say the Thunderbirds also made some exciting updates in War Memorial Gym during the holidays and tonight January 9th will be the perfect opportunity to showcase as the Men take on Trinity Western.

Should the records be broken there will be brief recognitions post-game followed by larger presentations at the following weekend of home games.

To add to the festivities this homestand, the Women’s team hosts Shoot for the Cure on January 10th and Jersey night on the 11th. Shoot for the Cure is a U SPORTS Women’s Basketball initiative that raises money for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Both coaches expressed excitement to be playing back on their homecourt in front of the T-Bird crowd!
