Three BC Women Selected to U17 National Team

Congratulations to Faith Dut, Deanna Tuchscherer and Olivia Morgan-Cherchas who will represent Team Canada this summer!

Vancouver, B.C. - Today the U17 Canadian Women’s National Team was announced. Among the 12 athlete roster are three players from B.C. who will represent Canada at the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup played in Belarus this later this month.

The athletes selected are Faith Dut of Surrey (Semiahmoo Secondary School), Deanna Tuchscherer of Chilliwack (GW Graham Secondary School), and Olivia Morgan-Cherchas of Kamloops (South Kamloops Secondary School).

All three athletes will be joining Team Canada after very successful high school season. Faith Dut lead a young Semiahmoo team to a Top-4 AAA finish, while Deanna Tuchscherer and her GW Graham Grizzlies fell in the AA Final to Olivia Morgan-Cherchas and the South Kamloops Titans.

The U17 National Team will be wrapping up training camp this week and head to Liepaja, Latvia for a three exhibition games before travelling to Minsk, Belarus for the start of the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup. The Women’s first game is against Latvia on July 21st.
