November 18, 2018

Vancouver, B.C. - The atmosphere inside the Vancouver Convention Centre was electrifying for the TCL Vancouver Basketball Showcase’s last game of the night. It was a highly anticipated match up between the Minnesota Gophers and the Aggies of Texas A&M. It would be the first time these teams have met in a head to head this season.

The Gophers took out running in the first half and the back and forth alley-oop plays had the crowd in a frenzy. The Aggies stayed within ten throughout the first half and made a few key plays that would give them confidence to close the half.

Minnesota Senior Guard, Jordan Murphy, was able to showcase much of his talent dominating the ball with 14 points and 7 rebounds. He was one of the lead ball handlers, the other being prized point guard Isaiah “Jelly Fam” Washington who was the floor general ended the night with 6 points and 3 assists.

At the start of the second half the tremendous duel guard play of TJ Starks and Brandon Mahan would help the Aggies storm back to finally take their first lead of the game off a huge 3 point basket from Brandon Mahan with four minutes left of play. Mahan finished the night with 17 points to Starks 11 points and 6 assist. Minnesota Guard Amir Coffey would go off for 12 points and Dupree McBrayer chipped in 10 points to outlast the comeback from Texas A&M down the stretch.
