Vancouver, B.C. - Despite having a loaded field of teams, including the Top-5 AAA Teams and an additional team from the Top-10, none of those teams were the marquee match-up of the day at the St. Thomas More Collegiate Chancellor Tournament. That honour, would go to the home team St. Thomas More Collegiate Knights who would play in front of their raucus home crowd in a during school hours match-up with McNair Secondary School.

In front of a standing-room only crowd of classmates, family, faculty, and fans, the Knights would jump out to an early lead and not look back on the day. Strong guard play by Matteo Mauro and Gabe Nacario would lead the Knights against the McNair Marlins zone press resulting in a number of easy baskets for STMC.

At halftime, spectators were treated to a youth basketball display highlighted by Grade 6 community school feeder schools (future Knights). The young athletes impressed from during halftime performance with both teams scoring a number of baskets and showcasing their individual skills.

To start the second half McNair would start with a spirited run including a three ball and ‘and-1’ to get the team energized, but STMC would pour it back on for the remainder of the half. In the end, St. Thomas More Collegiate prevailed 75-38.

The Chancellor continues tomorrow with games beginning at 8:30am at St. Thomas More Collegiate.
