RECAP: BC High School Basketball Combine

RECAP: BC High School Basketball Combine

‍

BURNABY BC - The Vancouver Basketball Academy, G2 Training, RainCity Basketball, 3Seed Training and West Coast Training combined for a one of a kind basketball experience at Fortius Sport & Health

‍

‍

Opening up the morning was a large group of elementary athletes excited to learn more about the sport. Lead equally by the respective basketball organizations - one by one player were put through various skill-based drills and stations. High-fives and balls were flying rapidly through the air at Fortius Centre as both the players and the coaches couldn't hold themselves together given the electrifying environment in the gym. Parents lined the walls, taking in a truly first-class event.

‍

‍

For the high school group, as soon as the older players started to roll in and grab their exclusive t-shirts the gym quickly changed from a learning ground to a proving ground. These kids were determined to keep - or put themselves on the map. After a thorough warm-up, players were put through series of conditioning drills in order to set the tone. Coach Doug Plumb was not about to let the fainthearted step foot on this court.

After a few savage sets of sprints, and other conditioning work, players were broken down into groups and worked with 1 on 1. With ten coaches on site, the player-to-coach ratio and instruction quality were both off the charts. Which is the power of putting all the best coaches in the province in the same gym at the same time.

"If you want to go fast, go alone if you want to go far, go together."

‍

‍

By the time game time came around these players could hardly run up and down the court. But they did just that, picking up full court, creating turnovers for huge dunks or highlight threes. Entertaining scrimmages for the spectators on the sidelines.

Indeed the future is bright it BC, with continued collaboration with these groups and more, there is nowhere to go but up!

Will we see you at the fourth edition of the BC Combine in 2018?
