Former Mr. New York Basketball and number one rated point guard in the state of New York, Isaiah Washington was torching local competition around the tri-state area and flourishing on the AAU circuit against the best prospects in the summer of 2016. Washington gained national attention and was ranked 13th at his position by Scout.com.  

While Isaiah was becoming one of the most sought out players on the recruiting circuit in his respected class, his heart was still on the playgrounds of some of the most beloved basketball courts the city has to offer. Dyckman Park, enriched in history and home to one of the best premier summer streetball tournaments to ever surface in New York City. The tournament draw fans from all over, from A-list celebrities to notable NBA players such as Kevin Durant, J.R. Smith, Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker. Here is where Isaiah shined and graced the tournament with his infamous layup known as the “Jelly”. A layup that became the rebirth of New York City basketball and one that took the internet by storm.

The Art of the Jelly is a finger roll with style that consist of floating, kicking your legs out like MJ and putting major english on the finish. The Jelly was a hit and Washington along with some of his best friends made it a movement now known as “JellyFam”. Kids across the nation took note and have been inspired by the iconic Jelly. It's now something embedded in today’s game!

Now the can’t miss kid from Harlem, New York is making his mark in the college ranks as the floor general for the University of Minnesota Gophers.
