On Friday October 16th, 2015, Langara Falcons hosted the Drive Basketball Selects Team against their 2015-16 Men’s Team.
Drive put the following players on the court against the Falcons: Jas Singh – Delta, Ty Rowell – Walnut Grove, Nathan Bromige – Lord Byng, Jon Mihklen – St.George’s, Jacob Van Santen – St.George’s, Miguel Tomley – Tamanawis, Luka Lizdek – Kitsilano, Jake Cowley – Walnut Grove.
Langara has a very young team this year with only two players returning from last year’s team. Two players returning from last year include Max Neuman and Nick Jhauj. Some new players to name are Grant Galbraith from University of Alberta (CIS), Ravi Basra – Windermere 2015, Anthony Demch – McMath 2015, Drake Downer – Camosun 2015, Kanwar Grewal – David Thompson 2013, Gary Minahs – Sir Winston Churchill 2015, Mitch Knippelberg – Camosun 2015.
Langara had jumped to an early start with a 12-2 lead until the Drive boys shortened the lead to 5 by half time. Former Drive athlete Ravi Basra from Windermere had showcased his quick sharp movements to the hoop giving him 20 points and Drake Downer with 28 points.
The size and strength the Falcons have had taken over in the 3rd and pulled away as the Drive boys were becoming exhausted with a short bench. The Falcons finished off the Drive team 109-93 in regulation.
