Both teams established their Bigs inside to start the game and then started firing from 3.  A three-point play by Sukhman off of an offensive board put JATT ahead of The Party and gave them some much needed momentum to take the first half 42-36.

The Party managed to tie up the game at 56 with 13 minutes left in the game with both teams relying heavily on the 3 and forgetting about their big men inside.  Trading 3s, The Party started to lose their steam and couldn't catch JATT who went inside to get to the free throw line. Hitting from the stripe in the final minutes put JATT ahead 81-77 to secure the victory.

Niko (The Party): 30 points (eight 3s), 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals

Sean (The Party): 10 points, 6 rebounds

Jordan (The Party): 5 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists

Sukhman (JATT): 34 points (five 3s), 16 rebounds, 6 blocks

Antonio (JATT): 21 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist

JD (JATT): 11 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals

The Huskies came out with a 2-3 zone, perhaps hoping that the absence of Brody and Prince meant that the Stallions would struggle from beyond the arc.  But as soon as Roger warmed up and hit five 3s, the Stallions established themselves and finished the first half 49-26. Daryll and Jeff did a great defensive job on Jamal to stifle the Huskies offence.

Jeff Chan was incredibly still on his work conference call and yet still managed to talk some trash while hustling his feet on D. With 7 minutes left on the clock, the Stallions had silenced the Huskies with only Tyrone still able to produce any offence.

Tyrone (Huskies): 30 points, 11 rebounds

Roger (Stallions): 24 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists

Mark (Stallions): 20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks

Luis (Stallions): 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals

Netflix nabbed an early lead with some quick and easy layups, but the Bulldogs slowly crept their way back into the game.  With 4 minutes left in the half, the Bulldogs pulled ahead to take the lead and finished the 1st half 33-28 over Nothin’ but Netflix.  About halfway through the 2nd half, the game progressed into a more physical battle and Nothin’ But Netflix took an injury timeout while down 12 points.  Mindy got the hot hand for the Bulldogs and started hitting back-to-back 3s to secure the win 67-51.

Shannon (Nothin’ But Netflix): 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals

Alex (Nothin’ But Netflix): 17 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal

Ivan (Nothin’ But Netflix): 8 points, 11 rebounds, 1 block

Mindy (Bulldogs): 17 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal

Gary (South Slope Bulldogs): 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists

Sajan (South Slope Bulldogs): 14 points, 1 steal

Week 2 tipped off with Banana Boat and Kawhi so SRS battling on court #5. The first half both teams started slowing trying to get to know each other, so it was a very even half for both teams. Primarily battling in the paint, Kahwi So Srs took a 32 – 22 over Banana Boat at the half.

In the second half, Alban started hot with three steals and driving to the bucket and getting it done at the freethrow line for Kawhi So Srs. Jason Cion tried to keep up with the offense from Kahwi so srs putting 14 points for Banana Boat Crew,  but it wasn’t enough to stop the great second half from Alban Shala, who scored a total of 23 points to give his team a start to a winning streak this season.

It was a slow start for both squads before The Buddy Guys jumped out to a 20-13 lead.  Big bursts of energy from the Guys' JD and Ravi kept their lead, but a big-time 3 by Canadians' Lazar kept his team with 10 at the half (40-30).

Antonio kicked off the 2nd half hitting 3/4 from 3 to put Buddys Guys up 54-40, though they struggled to contain All Canadians big man in the post and resorted to "Hack-a-Jok" (but he hit a solid 7/10 from the stripe). Despite some success by Raphael's spin moves in the paint, the All Canadians couldn't catch up to the Guys, losing 62-75.

Joel (All Canadians): 18 points, 5 rebounds

Lazar (All Canadians): 17 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal

Jok (All Canadians): 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals

JD (The Buddy Guys): 15 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 1 block

Sukhman (The Buddy Guys):  14 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 2 blocks

What a battle between the two teams who both teams kept it really close right from tip off. They played very good defense in the first half , but Royce did a great job dominating the scoring for Mandem while Mathew Anza would answer right back to keep it close with a 42 – 42 score at the half.

In the second half Gurjeevan got hot from deep,  knocking down three’s with a great team performance from Mandem they had managed to get a 10-point lead with 9 minutes left. Omid and Nemid went to work in the last 9 minutes to bring the game with 2 points for TTP. Prab came up with some big defensive blocks and plays at the end of the game alongside with Royce and Gurjeevan knocking down some treys and getting to the ft line. The last two minutes of the game was an exciting back and forth with a good effort from the TTP it was not enough to stop Mandem from getting the W.

A highly entertaining and fast paced game went down on Court 6 between newcomers ‘Crazy Pig’ and All Trouble at 8:00pm. Crazy Pig would use a balanced attack and strong ball movement to grab an early lead in the game, led by Difu and Jackson. All Trouble would  surge back behind the strong play of Tyrone Asenoguan who would end the night with a game high 30 points, eventually taking a one point lead with under 15 seconds to play. With Crazy Pig having the ball on the last possession, they would swing the ball until it found Jackson beyond the three point line all alone. His last second shot would catch nothing but net as the final buzzer sounded  giving Crazy Pig the win in their first Vancouver Metro Basketball League game.

Despite a short bench, the Rice Farmers would drive the energy in this game behind Garth Anderson and his strong performance. This game would go back and forth, with Igor Jesovnik leading  Money $hot in the points category. The final bucket (the go-ahead and game winner) would come from Jame of the Rice Farmers with an and-1 up-and-under. W to the Rice Farmers.

A defensive battle from the jump, both teams had to grind and earn every single basket in this game. With the referees really letting the players play, this physical game would go down to the wire with neither team able to open a big lead for the duration of the game. The OT Bandits would have a balanced attack, but it was Pep for the Shamgodz who was the difference maker, leading the way with 12 points and bringing the Shamgodz their first W of the season.
