Gamecocks couldn’t over come slow start in loss to Oregon. South Carolina women were slow out of the gates in semifinal game against the lady Beavers. Gamecocks shot poorly in the 1st of half of play, digging themselves a hole that later would be tough to overcome.
Oregon State applied pressure from the start with high energy and dead eye shooting from 3 at 44 percent for the game. Forward Taya Corosdale and guard Katie McWilliams both led the attack with 14 points each to keep control of the game.
Te’a Cooper lead a run for the Gamecocks scoring 14 points down the stretch to bring South Carolina back within two points. Alexis Jennings who scored 12 points and pulled 14 rebounds, scored a big layup to tie the game 68-68 but a late foul would send Oregon State to the foul line with 1.9 on the shot clock. Kate McWilliams would drain both free-throws to secure upset over South Carolina 68-70.
