Richmond, BC - This June, the FIBA Canada Quest 3x3 Basketball Qualifier returns to Vancouver. On June 23 / 24, participating teams will compete at the Richmond Olympic Oval in the FIBA Canada Quest 3x3 Basketball Qualifier for their chance to play in the single knock out Championship Bracket. The team that wins the qualifier wins an all expenses paid trip to the Canada Quest 3x3 National Championship at the West Edmonton Mall July 23 / 24 + a $500 cash prize.

Globally, 3x3 has gained popularity and grown since it’s first official event at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games. 3x3 is a very dynamic game because it requires less players, only a half-court, and the official rules are designed to provide a fast and exciting game. While still under the radar of many basketball players, on June 9, 2017 3x3 was officially added to the Olympic Program and will make its debut at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.

While the core rules of basketball are the same there are many rules that are drastically different from traditional 5v5.

Rules:

  • Teams comprised of Three players + One sub
  • Games are only 10 minutes long
  • 12 second shot clock
  • Score is counted by 1’s and 2’s
  • No breaks after score, no halftime, no quarter breaks.
  • First team to 21 points (or highest scoring team after 10 minutes)
